Maxicare Review

One of the benefit you should consider when applying for a job is to have a good health insurance provider. On top of the compensation and incentives, you must also think in long term and being employed to a company that offers a complete package of a health insurance benefits is a good one.

When I was still employed in Aegis People Support, we have this insurance

under Maxicare. This insurance is a well known health insurance provider of call center agents in the Philippines. If you have this health insurance, it is a sign that the company you work for cares for you and is a well established contact center company.

I was able to use my Maxicare card once when I had an office visit with a health provider. I was amazed that I don’t need to pay anything, I just presented my card and I was accomodated very well like the regular patients who does not have this card and pays high fees.

Another good thing about Maxicare insurance, I was given a priviledge to use it in popular and expensive health providers in the Philippines like Makati Medical Center.

On top of the health benefits, dental benefits and vision check up is an addition which is also a sign that this insurance really offers a high standard of service.

If there’s one thing I really miss in my office job before, it is the insurance I am getting from Maxicare. I feel that I am safe and secured that whatever happens to me, I am covered.

What is a MAXICARE Group/Corporate Account?

Starting January 2010 MAXICARE launched an enhanced group program that offered the following enhancements:

- Up to Card limit coverage for Pre Existing Non Dreaded and Dreaded Conditions
- No more medical evaluation and application forms
- No more age specific pricing, Flat rate for Plan types
- Additional special benefits like pre and post natal consultations, life insurance coverage, provoked and unprovoked assault

A group account is in truth actually a corporate account, a company, an organization. For us to consider it as a group account, the employee population must be at least five (5). This is normally applicable to small companies like consultancy firms, advertising agencies, SMEs, etc because by nature the company is actually small.

I get a lot of inquiries from people only to find out that their idea of a group was for them to form a group of five (5) and apply as a group. This is not the case as a group account must be a company and the benefits are coursed through the HR, normally.

Sometimes, a company may only decide to allot their MAXICARE benefit to a certain subsidiary or group only within the mother company. For example: Ateneo School of Theology will enroll but the whole Ateneo de Manila University isn’t enrolled. This is accepted and will be tagged as a corporate account. It’s not like there were five (5) teachers in random who converged themselves and decided to enroll as a group account and represented themselves as Ateneo de Manila University.

On the other hand, a company may only decide to apply their Maxicare benefit to a certain level within the organization only. For example, Banco de Oro Assistant Managers only, Reyes Haircutters Rank and File. These examples are acceptable and they are eligible to enroll under the Corporate Account.
